Show that stretch marks are one of the top five reasons women feel insecure. During pregnancy, women are more likely to develop stretch marks, also known as striae, due to the body growing very quickly and suddenly. These stretch marks happen when the layers beneath the skin grow faster than the skin itself, causing tiny tears in the outer layer of the skin. Then, scar tissue forms in those tears, which leads to the appearance of stretch marks.

Some women may start getting stretch marks during puberty, while others might not experience them until they become pregnant.
In the first four months of pregnancy, a woman’s abdomen may remain flat, but this can change rapidly in the fifth and sixth months. The baby grows very quickly during this time, which puts a lot of stress on the skin of the abdomen. The skin can't stretch fast enough to keep up with the baby's growth, causing the outer layer of skin to tear. These tears then lead to the development of stretch marks.
